Only renewable energies can be considered for a sustainable energy supply. These include hydropower, wind energy, solar energy (photovoltaics, solar thermal energy), bioenergy (biogas, biomass), geothermal energy and ocean energy. Sustainable energy supply also includes consuming less energy by using it efficiently. We are specialized in energy supply with renewable energy technologies and offer energy consulting, energy efficiency improvement, resource concepts, energy concepts, rough planning (e.g. of photovoltaic systems) as well as participation projects (e.g. energy communities).
1. Information and awareness raising
The local people are the most important factor for the realisation of a sustainable and future-oriented energy supply. Some projects even are subject to abandonment if the involvement of the population is neglected. Energy sources, technologies and economic potential must be explained in order to be understood. For Sekem Energy, information and awareness-raising are therefore important key measures in energy development. After all, it is the people for whom we design our energy solutions.
Concrete offers:
- Information evenings
- Excursions to locations of renewable energy technologies
- Workshops
- Consultation
- Creation of information material
2. Data collection and analysis
In Service Package 2, relevant energy data is recorded and analysed. The initial survey and the subsequent as-is analysis take the following data into account:
- Basic data: Inhabitants, areas, area structures ...
- Resources: biogenic resources, climate data, catchment radii, recyclables, agricultural land use ...
- Needs: Heat, cold, electricity, mobility, energy efficiency
- Vision: project, mission statement, development plans...
In addition to the comprehensive collection of all energy data, the collection and analysis of project-specific data is also possible. In a grey water project, for example, the focus is on water data; in a heat supply project, the focus is on data relevant to heat.
3. Economic efficiency calculation
Based on the relevant data, various solution proposals are calculated. In short, medium and long-term scenarios and different models of sustainable energy supply are developed. These models are checked for their economic viability with the help of the PNS (process network synthesis) program.
The result of Service Package 3 is several solution models that are based directly on the resources and energy needs of a region and also take into account planned regional development strategies.
4. Assessment of environmental sustainability
Genuine sustainability is more than just a short-term cost-effective issue. Sekem Energy's energy solutions are designed to meet both the economic and ecological criteria of sustainability. After all, we have only borrowed the Earth from our children. Furthermore, ecology is also an economic factor.
Sustainable Process Index. SPI
The SPI program is an evaluation tool from the "Ecological Footprint" family and is compatible with the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) according to the EN ISO 140406 standard. With the help of this software, different technologies and processes can be compared in terms of their ecological impact.
The following services can be provided using the help of the SPI:
- Calculation of the area required for the sustainable embedding of a process in the ecosphere,
- Identification of those steps in the process that create the strongest environmental pressure,
- Identification of the material flows responsible for this environmental pressure (resources or emissions),
- Comparison of the "area load" of the provision of a product or service with the statistically "due" area.
5. Detailed planning of the implementation
Once data has been collected and analysed, models have been calculated and evaluated, and the optimal energy solution has been developed, the next step is implementation. In order to be able to manage these optimally, a detailed and exact detailed planning is necessary. The results of PNS and SPI serve as the basis for the planning. The planning of the calculated and adapted system solution also clarifies the expected investment costs.
6. Financing sustainable energy projects
Service Package 6 includes the legal evaluation of a concept and the development of possible forms of financing. Solid yet flexible financing is one of the essential prerequisites for the successful realisation of project ideas and sustainable energy projects. In order to ensure that good ideas are implemented, Sekem Energy provides its clients with various financing solutions for sustainable energy projects. Thus, projects can become reality. Special consideration is given to alternative financing models. In this way, both implementation and value creation are to be facilitated and left in the region. Public-private partnership models involving the local population, the establishment of public limited companies to acquire capital or the use of regional currencies are equally conceivable.
7. Implementation
Service Package 7 utilizes the implementation of already detailed plans for the realisation of comprehensive regional energy solutions. The prerequisite for this is both the preparation of detailed plans and financing models that have already been drafted.
Individual implementation work will be carried out by suitable experts, with Sekem Energy assuming overall coordination. Sekem Energy draws experts from the pool of our partner companies, which are located in various technology sectors.
