About Us

The shareholders

The shareholders of Sekem Energy GmbH are know-how carriers in various disciplines: Bakk. Birgit Birnstingl-Gottinger (Managing Director) and Ing. Leo Riebenbauer bring many years of experience in the conception of multifunctional energy centres from their companies. With Ing. Harald Kaufmann and DI Horst Striessnig, Sekem Energy has two proven practitioners at its disposal in the fields of energy and storage technology, biomass and solar energy. Helmy Abouleish and the winner of the Alternative Nobel Prize, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish, are representatives of the Egyptian partner initiative Sekem and contribute the sustainability perspective, which compares ecological considerations and assessments with social and economic dimensions on an equal footing. Dr. Reinhard Schanda, a long-standing energy law expert, is responsible for the legal aspects of Sekem Energy.

Network of experts

In their many years of work in the field of renewable energy, the shareholders have built up a network of experts in addition to individual competencies. These experts from a wide range of specialist fields make an important contribution to the quality of Sekem Energy. Their experience and special know-how can be called on when required.

Synthesis from science and practice

In addition to practical know-how in the conception and implementation of sustainable, decentralised energy models, Sekem Energy maintains close links to science and research with the help of the scientific advisory board. The advisory board transports state-of-the-art technology into the company, thus enabling Sekem Energy to achieve the optimum combination of theory and practice.

Naming

Our company, Sekem Energy GmbH, owes its name to Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish, the founder of the Sekem Initiative (www.sekem.com), who enthusiastically explored the company network behind our company and stated that our initiative acts entirely in the spirit of the Sekem Initiative. Therefore he suggested to integrate the name Sekem as a new company name. Since then, there have been numerous projects and initiatives that aim to connect East and West.
